Business owner reports illegal dumpers; dump site cleaned

The owner of KWB Auto, Won Bae Kim, found out trash he paid a man to dispose of properly was instead dumped along a road to Two Lovers Point after his daughter saw Kandit’s story on the matter Sunday. Mr. Kim spoke with officials from the Department of Parks and Recreation Park Police and the man took responsibility for the dumping, according to Mr. Kim’s daughter, Eun Ae Kim.

Park Police issued a citation to the man Monday, and he cleaned the site, according to governor’s director of communications Krystal Paco-San Agustin. The site now is clean.

“On Sunday evening, June 24, 2024, Park Polce Officers received information of a reported Littering/Dumping in the Two Lover’s Point area,” Ms. Paco-San Agustin confirmed. “The following morning Park Police Officers followed up on tips posted on social media. Officers subsequently located and cited the violator for Guam Code Annotated Chapter 10 51205 (a) Littering. The violator voluntarily removed the trash which was later verified by officers.”

“Officers are following up on a possible second violator in connection with the litter violation,” she added.

“My dad has paid someone to have his trash taken to a recycling site because my dad is weak to do it himself,” Ms. Kim said. “I am worried people will be shaming my dad’s shop due to a third party negligence.”

The illegal dump site was discovered by a biker Sunday morning as he took off island guests on a tour of Two Lovers Point, which is a popular tourist site. The area also sits atop the aquifer, the island’s primary source of drinking water.

Pictures of the dumped items included several mail parcels which bore the name of Mr. Kim’s company, KMB Auto.

“My dad has already talked to the authorities and the guy who threw trash away illegally has taken fault and will be paying the fine,” Ms. Kim said.

The pictures below are of the dump site followed by the site after it was cleaned. The pictures were given to Kandit by Ms. Paco-San Agustin.

This is a good story. Mr. Kim accepted responsibility but who is the person who dumped the trash illegally ?
GSWA accepts cardboard for free. This is a good thing for all of us. I deliver my cardboard to GSWA.
Also good for the biker to make this report. All of us are “eyes and ears”. Doesn’t everyone want a litter-free Guam ?
