Guam Power Authority (GPA) continues its power restoration process and have made progress to its post-typhoon recovery. The crews are divided into sectors to systematically address grid repairs throughout the island. GPA will continue to provide an estimate recovery summary to summarize our restoration progress to the Island-Wide Power System (IWPS).

Typhoon Mawar Recovery Summary As of 1:00 pm, TUESDAY May 30, 2023:

System Load (Customer Demand) Restored: 26.0%

GPA Substations Energized: 83.3%

GPA Feeders/Circuits Energized: 55.6%

Notes: -NO Feeders/circuits can be energized unless GPA Substation energized -System Load (customer demand) percentage increases as GPA feeders/circuits percentage increases

GPA anticipates increased percentages in feeders/circuits and an increase of customer power restored over the next week, now that most of the priority transmission and substation facilities have been energized. A total of 34 Feeders/Circuits are partially energized today. Of the 24 major substations, a total of 20 substations have been energized. GPA currently has 91MW of generation capacity online supporting 52MW of customer demand/load. As more generation capacity comes online more customer feeders/circuits will be energized.

GPA’s next step is to restore feeders/circuits with minimal damages and may have to isolate areas having substantial damages. However, once GPA is complete with this phase of restoration, we will return and concentrate on heavily damaged areas. GPA will continue to restore and repair lines until every last customer has power in their homes and businesses.

Additionally, in an effort to keep the public updated with our progress, we are providing a list of feeders/circuits that are Partially Energized in various areas around the island.
