National Weather Service, Guam Office – The disturbance near Chuuk, Invest 98W, has become the feature bearing closer watching with the weakening of Invest 97W. We’re still anticipating an eventual turn toward the Marianas with a range of potential impacts dependent on timing and motion.
Farther south, a strong westerly monsoon persists across Yap State and western Chuuk State where we’ve seen squalls dropping southeastward at 35-45 mph between Yap and Chuuk. These conditions will continue for another couple of days.
