Republicans Announce Legislative Committee Leaders

News release from incoming Speaker Frank Blas, Jr.:

The Republican Majority of I Mina-trentai Ocho na Liheslaturan Guåhan announced the committee makeup and selected chairpersons for the upcoming legislative term.

The committees and their chairs are as follows:

1.        Committee on Rules
Chair:   Senator V. Anthony Ada

2.        Committee on General Government Operations and Appropriations
Chair:   Senator Christopher M. Duenas

3.        Committee on Health and Veterans Affairs
Chair:   Senator Sabrina Salas-Matanane

4.        Committee on Public Safety and Emergency Management
Chair:   Senator Eulogio Shawn Gumataotao

5.        Committee on Education, Communications, and Public Broadcasting
Chair:   Senator Vincent A.V. Borja

6.        Committee on Child Welfare, Youth Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women’s Affairs, Disability Services, the Arts, Culture, Historic Preservation, and Hagåtna Restoration
Chair:   Senator Shelly V. Calvo

7.        Committee on Transportation, Tourism, Customs, Federal & Foreign Affairs, Utilities, and Infrastructure
Chair:   Senator Jesse A. Lujan

8.        Committee on Economic Investment, Military Buildup, Regional Relations, Retirement, Regulatory Affairs, Technology, and Justice
Chair:   Senator Telo T. Taitague

9.        Committee on Land, Housing, Environment, Agriculture, and Parks

The Speaker will be a voting member in every committee. The committee chairs will announce their committee members at a later date.

As previously announced, the leadership of the 38th Guam Legislature will be as follows:

Speaker will be Senator Frank F. Blas, Jr.
Vice Speaker will be Senator V. Anthony Ada.
Legislative Secretary will be Senator Sabrina Salas-Matanane.
Majority Leader will be Senator Jesse A. Lujan.
Majority Whip will be Senator Shelly V. Calvo.
