President Trump has announced the U.S. military attacked “three nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan,” according to his post from Truth Social moments ago.
“A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow,” the president wrote in his message. “All planes are safely on their way home … NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE!”
Major news networks so far are reporting only from Mr. Trump’s message.
Hours ago international news outlets were reporting that B-2 Bombers from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri were moved to Guam. It is unclear whether these same bombers were used in the attacks against Iran.
The war between Israel and Iran enters its ninth day since the Israeli military preemptively struck several Iranian sites. The Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has vowed his country would not surrender despite Mr. Trump’s call for unconditional surrender. The Netanyahu government in Tel Aviv has threatened to assassinate the ayatollah, and Mr. Khamenei, according to The New York Times 11 hours ago, has begun preparing for his succession.
Pope Leo XIV has been calling for an end to the escalating war. World leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, have cautioned that U.S. entrance to the war could lead to nuclear war.
