Certified pro to teach parents of Autism spectrum, other behavior-struggling children how to positively influence them

Lola Plucer-Rosario, a board certified behavior analyst (BCBA) will be leading a three-day workshop in September for parents who want to learn how to influence their child’s behavior positively using applied behavior analysis (ABA).

ABA, according to the website Autism Speaks, “is a therapy based on the science of learning and behavior.” It helps people to understand how behavior works, how it is affected by the environment, and how learning takes place. The therapy can help to increase language and communication skills, to improve attention, focus, social skills, memory and academics, and to decrease problem behaviors, according to Autism Speaks.

Ms. Plucer-Rosario partnered with Blue Ocean Behavioral Health to help families who struggle with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD, emotional disturbances and other related developmental delays or behavioral complexities. Blue Ocean is associated with the clinic IHP.

“It is a hands-on, in-depth workshop where parents will be able to have a effective behavioral plan at the end of the 3 days,” IHP Medical Group’s website says about the workshop. “Lola’s extensive experience and expertise along with her local family roots has helped to developed this workshop with our island’s family dynamics and cultural needs in mind.”

According to the website, parents and guardians can expect the following from the workshop:

  • Customized Behavior Action Plan

    • Created in collaboration with a BCBA

    • Tailored to your child and family’s unique needs
