It’s easy and convenient to blame Lou or Josh, but there are many factors why people leave Guam, impacting them beyond the GOVERNOR’S control such as the military build up and rising housing costs, food prices, a drug epidemic, and failed education and health care that the 37th legislature shares responsibility for, especially Senators Chris Duenas, Jesse Lujan and a host of Democrats.
It’s not all on Lou as much as it surprises me that I’m saying that. Being poor on Guam was made illegal by Duenas, San Nicolas, Lujan, Parkinson, Roy, Tina etc. when they chased the homeless away with limited help and threatened through legislature to arrest people asking for money on the street, which by the way violates their First Amendment rights. My gosh they even wanted to whip or cane the poor law breakers and give a lower wage to poor people who want to return to work.
If our elected leaders went after the poorest on Guam while we watched and thought through apathy that “it’s not about me,” how long did you think that their ignorance and arrogance with lack of action to help the rest of us wouldn’t catch up with working families?
Name one thing that Duenas, Lujan or your favorite senator did to improve housing, health care or education issues on Guam? There are some who do stand out, yes, but most during the 37th do not.
Silver spoon leadership doesn’t know how to focus on the needs of the people of Guam. They have no connection to the hardship that many face.
Anyone that thinks the Republican majority will do any better is sadly mistaken when those Republicans such as Duenas and Lujan etc sitting in the 37th, now in the 38th, failed miserably to improve education, health care, etc. Actually, it’s my opinion that Senator Chris Duenas among others have pushed health care into a further spiral of demise.
Over and over our elected leaders have shown that they have been out of touch and the march of people leaving Guam is a good symptom of that.
It’s not Lou, it’s not Josh, it’s us who are at fault for electing the same failed leadership on both sides of the aisle and thinking things will somehow be different if we keep electing the same people who did squat for us in their past terms.
