Patrick Uncangco is a hero. The mixed martial arts fighter and personal fitness consultant at Paradise Fitness Center yesterday tackled and subdued a man who witnesses say was speeding through traffic along a residential artery in Dededo, ran off the roadway causing a car to flip, and attempted to flee the scene. Mr. Uncangco did not know it at the time, but the man he captured until police arrived to arrest him was DJ Robert Tosiuo.
Mr. Tosiuo, 29, has been wanted by police since June 12 this year related to “an ongoing shooting investigation,” according to a Guam Police Department news release. Sources say the shooting investigation pertains to the Mesemwan Repwak-tied shooting of a 14-year-old girl near Shop for Less in Maite on May 3, 2024, at 2:39 a.m. Her injuries were non-lethal, and she was released from the hospital shortly after the incident. The shooting occurred while the girl was the passenger in a moving vehicle. GPD has not confirmed this connection.
The police news release does state Mr. Tosiuo was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm, unlawful discharge of a firearm, reckless conduct, terrorizing, destruction of evidence, and other crimes related to yesterday’s traffic incident.
Mr. Tosiuo is being held at the Department of Corrections pending his initial appearance before a magistrate judge of the Superior Court of Guam.
