United extends Japan flights to Saipan through July 2025

Aeroroutes is reporting that United Airlines is extending its three weekly flights between Saipan and Narita, Japan beyond August 30, 2024, when those scheduled flights were to expire. A database shows the flights continuing at least until July 2025, according to a brief news report by Aeroroutes.

The news indicates positive market projections for outbound Japanese tourists to the CNMI.

The head of the Marianas Visitors Authority last year said he had little hope for the Japan tourist market for Saipan, turning dwindling public resources instead to other markets, like Langkawi and Australia. CNMI Governor Arnold Palacios, however, has insisted on investing promotional resources in Japan. Tourist arrivals from that country have increased beyond MVA projections since.

Aeroroutes, based mainly in Canada, tracks and publishes airline schedules and network changes documentation for airlines throughout the world.

Mere words cannot describe how much I loathe transiting through Narita.

That is because there is either a 19-hour or 21-hour layover. The only way you can actually sleep is to pay 100 bucks, take a bus, and get a “clean” room in a tourist hotel.

    No fun.

    • What do you mean? If you travel to the US, its the best route. going through guam and hawaii to reach mainland US is disgusting and time wasting. Thank god for Narita routes. Not to mention, they offer wayyy more than guam airport.

True, love the Saipan/Narita flight. Always enjoy a day layover to eat their delicious food and just relax before a long travel to the mainland.
