Will there be a public fight for speaker this morning?

Will there be a fight this morning at the inauguration of the new Guam Legislature for speaker?

The democrats have not announced their selection, which indicates the vote of republican senators may be relevant at the 10 am inauguration.

Have any of the republicans cut deals with any of the three reported contenders for the job?

The last time an incoming legislature fought over the selection for speaker was during the inauguration of the 23rd Guam Legislature in 1995. That was the inauguration, where five Democrats aligned with eight Republicans to elect democrat Speaker Don Parkinson. The other eight democrats walked out of the session hall in protest.

Let’s watch this play out together starting at 10 am on Kandit.
