“Republican” is now the bad word, the bogeyman in the lexicon of CNMI politics and society.
The bogeyman has to conceal itself in darkness. Look at how many true-red Republicans are running for CNMI office as “independents.”
There’s nothing independent about them. They do not subscribe to the reforms of the true-blue Independent-Democratic movement.
These are the same people who have tried at every turn to stop the progressive agenda of the Palacios administration.
All they are doing is setting the stage for Republicans in the gubernatorial and other elections in 2026. They want to foment dissent within the “independent” ranks and blame the economic recession THEY CREATED on the current coalition.
They are wolves in sheep’s clothing, and voters should beware their cowardly attempt to conceal the bogeyman.
