Administration goes after Wiseman for alleged tax debt

The Palacios administration appears to be getting very serious about the collection of unpaid taxes, as it has filed a federal tax lien against David A. Wiseman, a name identically matching that of a former judge of the Superior Court of the CNMI.

According to MC23-00114, filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court of the CNMI, Mr. Wiseman owes the people of the Commonwealth $24,551.45 for 2015 taxes that were assessed in 2017. If this is the former judge, then the assessment was made during his tenure on the bench.

Arnold Palacios’ administration has ramped up collection efforts against wealthier residents of the CNMI, whom the Division of Revenue and Taxation asserts have not made good on their duty to pay taxes.

I hope Richard Santos is ready. He paid it off and has the receipts to prove it. It’s not his fault that tax and revenue didn’t do their due diligence in keeping up to date with their payments.
