Cop who found murdered former mayor described gruesome scene

Police officer Teodoro Parinasan took the stand Friday morning in the trial of Joyner Sked to describe the gruesome murder scene he found on April 3, 2021.  That was the day he and other Guam Police Department officers found former Umatac mayor Danny Sanchez decomposing in the home of Sked’s boyfriend, Rudy Quinata.  Mr. Parinasan said he smelled an odor of fecal matter—of a decomposing body as he approached the shack.  There were no windows to the shack, he said; but the officer discovered an opening at the top of the shack, where he could see light coming through the darkness of the night.

The officer retrieved a step ladder, and as he climbed further up the steps to the opening, the odor was prominent.  He peered into the opening and scanned the area from left to right.  From the left, he noticed an unkept bed, a window air-condition unit, and a mirror.  As he looked to the southwest, to the right, a body lay face-down and a hammer covered in blood next to the head.

Officers knocked on the door of the shack and called out, but the man was unresponsive.

Officers notified crime scene investigators, medics, and GPD’s Criminal Investigation Division, and about an hour and a half later, officers used a bolt cutter provided by GFD to open the shack.  The man had long hair, no shirt on, black pants, and one shoe.  He had numerous puncture wounds and lacerations on the back of his head, on the center of his back, from his sternum to his left nipple and the crown of his head.  By the time the body was discovered, his blood was drying.  This is a developing story.
