COR 4 anticipated by 10 AM Wednesday; Assessments to be made at first light



Guam remains in Condition of Readiness (COR) 1 at this time. The community is advised to remain indoors until COR 4 is announced.

As of 7 p.m., Typhoon Bolaven was located near 14.8 degrees north latitude and 145.4 degrees east longitude, about 90 miles north-northwest of Guam, moving northwest at 14 mph, with maximum sustained winds of 80 mph. Bolaven is passing between Rota and Tinian and is now entering the Philippine Sea. Bolaven`s motion will slowly pull it away from Tinian and Saipan overnight.

A flash flood warning remains in effect for Guam until 10:15 p.m. Between 2.5 and 5.7 inches of rain has fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are possible. Flash flooding is ongoing. The community is advised to remain off the roadways through the evening.

When is COR 4?
Guam will remain in COR 1 this evening. The community is advised to remain indoors and off the roadways, even if damaging winds and rains subside through the night. At first light on Wednesday, October 11, Governor Leon Guerrero will do a windshield assessment of damages.

Based on current agency reports and guidance from the National Weather Service, Governor Leon Guerrero anticipates declaring COR 4 at 10 a.m., Wednesday, October 11, 2023. Government of Guam operations will resume at 10 a.m.

GDOE School Update
Guam Department of Education (GDOE) classes, to include after school sports activities and the ASPIRE program, will remain closed for the day. Additional information regarding classes resuming and make-up days will be issued at a later time. GDOE employees should report to work two hours after the declaration of COR 4.

GCC Update
In preparation for the return to Condition of Readiness (COR) 4, the Guam Community College (GCC) advises that GCC employees should be ready to report to work by 10 a.m. tomorrow, October 11, 2023. Classes will resume as soon as the campus is cleared to open. GCC students are asked to check their MyGCC accounts as well as the GCC’s social media channels regularly for updated information.
