Guam: Brace for rain — CNMI: Brace for higher winds and gusts

If Invest 95W, currently located near Chuuk and highly disorganized, comes through the Marianas later this week, it likely will approach as a tropical depression that will bring heavy rains to Guam, and higher winds and gusts to Rota, Tinian, and Saipan. But this forecast – made by National Weather Service lead Landon Aydlett at 7:15 a.m., September 9. 2024 – can change, though weather experts are circling certainty that the Mariana Islands will not be getting a typhoon or even a tropical storm out of Invest 95W.

There is a caveat: There is a weather system next to 95W that will prolong the rains in the Marianas. Heavy rains are anticipated to start tonight and continue through at least Thursday. The Guam Office of Civil Defense issued a flood watch to correspond with this period.
