Hafa Adai. This is Miguel Bordallo of the Guam Waterworks Authority updating you on Typhoon Mawar recovery efforts for Saturday June 10th.

This evening GWA Production crews and our contractor partners will be working into the night to complete pump and motor replacements for another two wells. But as of 7:00PM we stand at 89 operating wells, with 46 on island power and 43 on generators, inching closer to our GOAL of 90. We are still producing about 31.5 million gallons a day of water and moving it through our Northern and Central systems. That’s about 93% of pre-typhoon production levels from our Northern wells – Until we get to our goal, we ask for your continued support in conservation efforts and using only what you need, and not all that you can get from our system until service has been restored to all areas.

Our Distribution system teams were working to respond to damage reports and broken lines, causing outages to pocket areas within the central villages. We continue to monitor reservoirs levels in Yigo, Dededo, Barrigada, Mangilao and Chaot. Our southern water system continues to operate to meet customer demand.

We have placed so much of our focus on updating you on the water systems, I would like to re- mind the public that our Wastewater collections and Treatment teams are hard at work repairing and maintaining operations at our sewer pump stations and wastewater treatment plants. These men and women have been working tirelessly to keep our island and our environment safe – not because they have to comply with EPA regulations, but because they and their families live here and have a vested interest in doing what’s right for Guam. To these men and women, and their families – thank you for your hard work and sacrifice.

Si Yu’us Ma’ase.

Thank you to the team for working on the water wells. Let’s all hope, on a go forward basis, the maintenance of the wells. There’s several people I have talked to where the water would run in the morning and shortly after till 12 noon no water. What’s up with that?

You’re very good at patting yourself on the back. When will our water be safe to drink again?
