Help murdered mother’s family to give her proper burial

Sumittra Lairopi

The family of Sumittra Lairopi, the woman gunned down after Valentine’s dinner outside Thai Thai restaurant in Tamuning, is asking for donations through a GoFundMe page in order to give the mother of three and wife a proper burial.

Rudolfo Hermosilla, cousin to Ms. Lairopi’s widower, Roman Ayuyu Lairopi, Jr., started the GoFundMe page titled “Tragedy Strikes on Valentine’s Day,” with Mr. Lairopi’s permission.

Here is the text from that page, which provides information about the family and the heartbreak they are enduring:

The Lairopi family left Saipan and moved to Guam in 2010 in search of a better life and education for their three children.
Tragically, their dreams were shattered on the evening of February 14, 2024, when Mrs. Sumittra Lairopi was senselessly shot during a robbery outside Thai Thai Healthy Cuisine Restaurant while celebrating Valentine’s Day with friends. Despite the swift response from authorities, Mrs. Lairopi tragically succumbed to her injuries, leaving behind a devastated family and community.
Mrs. Lairopi is survived by her three children, Sammiyen, Laviana, and Roman Jr., who are now facing an uncertain future without their loving mother. Her husband, Roman Ayuyu Lairopi Jr., is left to navigate the grief and responsibility of raising their children alone.
We are setting up this GoFundMe to support the Lairopi family in their time of need. Funds raised will go towards funeral expenses, medical bills, and supporting the children’s education and well-being. Any contribution, no matter the size, will help ease the burden of this tragic loss.
Please join us in showing love and support for the Lairopi family during this unimaginable time. Your kindness and generosity will help them find strength and resilience in the face of unbearable grief.
Goal: $20,000
