Invest 94W not expected to become a storm, will bring heavy weather


A tropical disturbance – Invest 94W – south of the Mariana Islands is not expected to develop into a storm, according to the latest information from the National Weather Service Guam office today.

However, “Wetter, windier weather expected across Guam and CNMI mid to late week associated with monsoon,” the news release from chief meteorologist Landon Aydlett states.

Guam Homeland Security/Office of Civil Defense, in a news release Tuesday morning, warns residents that heavy rainfall and gusty southwest winds are expected in the latter half of this week across the Marianas.

“Expect 4 – 8 inches of rainfall with locally higher amounts possible,” the GHS/OCD news release states. “Winds will be south to southwesterly sustained at 15 to 20 mph with gusts to 40 mph with any stronger shower or thunderstorm developments.”
