Jim Moylan corrects Kandit editorial: Guam congressman switched support to Jim Jordan

Jim Moylan

James Moylan, Guam’s delegate to the U.S. House of Representatives, issued a statement correcting information Kandit published in an editorial critical of – among other things – his (now previous) choice of Steve Scalise for House speaker.

Mr. Scalise has since pulled out from the race, and Mr. Moylan has – according to this statement – switched allegiance to Jim Jordan, the Ohio republican front runner for the job.

Here is Mr. Moylan’s full statement:

After the vacancy of the Speakership in the House of Representatives, I initially did have some reservations on the campaign of Chairman Jim Jordan to be the next Speaker. His position on the H2B visa issue over the years was one concern, as this is a critical necessity to addressing Guam’s labor shortage both inside the fence and out. He has also blocked other issues of importance for Guam in recent years, including HR 282 introduced by our predecessor in the 117th Congress. There were other appropriation issues as well, which we needed to enhance a conversation on.

Nonetheless we had a great meeting with Chairman Jordan last week, as he visited our office to discuss our concerns while asking for our vote. We went into details on our top priorities for Guam, and we were content with the responses. Last Thursday I did cast my vote in Conference for Chairman Jordan to be the next Speaker of the House.

Things change very quickly here in Congress, but my one commitment is ensure that whatever decisions are made by my office, are made with the best of interests for Guam. Likewise, we join a great majority of members who want to get this speakership quandary out of the way, so we can get back to focusing on issues that matter. Sadly we ended another day here without a Speaker, and another vote will be called tomorrow at 11am ET.

Are you serious Jim Moylan!!! Jim Jordan is a LIAR and a pawn for Trump, who is also a LIAR and a fraud and has broken every rule of our constitution of our country. You would choose party over our DEMOCRACY. I am so disappointed with you!!! I may be late because you have voted already. But if in case the voting goes another round, please reconsider and not be one of those spineless republicans in congress.

  • M. Rosario, your accusations were not backed by any facts. The fact that you’re over-stating that Mr. Trump has “broken every rule in our constitution”( that’s thousands of rules) leads me to believe you either exaggerate a lot or that you lie while accusing others of lying and don’t see that as problematic. We need to get over emotionally charged issues and apply proper critical thinking and logic skills to find the truth.

  • Mr M. Rosario, first of all you talk about the Constitution and call us a democracy, that alone tells me how your knowledge is limited. We are not a democracy, we are a Constitutional republic! Constitutional means “The Constitution is the supreme law of the land” and that no local, state or federal laws should contradict the Constitution. Second, present your facts about Trump and Jordan! Our problem as a people is we vote on emotions not on facts. People vote because they belong to a certain party, or because of their gender, or because they just hate the other candidates. When I vote, I vote on what the candidates are saying in there campaigns, then if elected, I hold them accountable, and if they don’t produce what they promised on their campaign, then I don’t vote for them ever again! That’s our problem! We vote for the same candidates, election after election and expect different results! Yet nothing changes. Trump did more in four years than any of these career politicians that have been office for decades! But I still will hold him accountable if he’s elected in 2024. We need term limits for any politician that runs for office! We need to end the career politicians status! Don’t let these corrupt politicians divide us! “We the People” are there boss! Govguam is a prime example of career politicians running the government! 50 years, and GMH, public schools, GPA, GWA, infrastructure is all falling apart. But we keep electing them back into office. It’s time We the People stop fighting among ourselves and start demanding accountability from all these elected public servants and their cronies!
