U.S. Congressman Gregorio “Kilili” Sablan is asking the voters of the Commonwealth to elect democratic gubernatorial candidate Christina “Tina” Sablan. In an endorsement video released by the Sablan-Staffler campaign, Kilili posed the question to Commonwealth voters: “What’s holding you back?”
“She’s hard working, she’s very smart” Kilili said, adding, “very smart. She’s our best hope.”
“I really hope the people realize the seriousness of the mess we’re in,” Kilili went on to say, referring to the squandering of public resources by Gov. Ralph Torres and how by next year, the consequences of Torres’s actions will be felt by the poor and the working class.
“One thing I ask is, ‘So after ARPA, then what?’ Because [Torres] is spending government funds and resources with no regard for whether this would have as much impact on the well-being of the Commonwealth of people,” he said.
“Let us start fixing it,” Kilili said.
“Sometimes people say, ‘Nah, the problem’s too large,'” he said. “No it’s not. We can fix it.”
“Because if we don’t worry about fixing our problem,” he begged of voters, “then, what are we?”
Kilili is running unopposed for reelection to the U.S. House of Representatives. He is running as a democrat.
