Mayors get money to close gaps in recovery effort

To expedite recovery efforts within the villages, Governor Lou Leon Guerrero and Lt. Governor Joshua Tenorio presented checks to village mayors on Wednesday morning. In total, $1.9 million was provided and each mayor presented a $100,000 check, as provided by P.L. 37-17, which was passed by the Guam Legislature.

The appropriation measure was authored by Speaker Therese Terlaje.

“Today marks two weeks since Typhoon Mawar’s landfall, and while we’ve made incredible progress towards recovery, we have heard and answered our mayors’ calls for greater financial assistance,” said Governor Leon Guerrero. “Each village has its unique challenges and our mayors know best how to invest and deploy resources to best support the restoration of our villages.”
