Nearly 100% restoration of substations; 28% of customer demand restored

Here’s an update from the Joint Information Center about the power restoration campaign (below are pictures of the work being done):

  • 28.0% of the System Load (Customer Demand) has been restored.
  • 95.8% of GPA’s Substation Energization has been restored.
  • 61.9% of GPA’s feeders/ circuits have been energized/restored.
  • 5 additional feeders/circuits added to the island-wide system
  • 23 critical substations energized of the 24 total major GPA substations.
  • Generation Capacity: 111 megawatts (MW) of capacity are online supporting 52MW load.

GPA notes that feeders and circuits may be energized only if GPA’s substation is energized and that system load will increase once feeders and circuits are energized.

  • Roughly 2% increase in customer load per day works out to another 30 days of misery. It would be nice to get some info on if the bottleneck is parts, manpower etc. and then perhaps news in whether the shortfall will be addressed by inbound assistance.

I’ll ask whether there’s a bottleneck, and what is causing it. Thank you for the suggestion.

  • We all know that our politicians are corrupt as well as their corrupt cronies running these government agencies. The corruption is on both sides, democrat and republicans! They just feed us their word salads during election year, after elected, nothing! They love the chaos that they create because of their lack of action, then pretend to come in like knights in shining armor to save the day. Notice how none of them ever get prosecuted by our local attorney generals, because they too are corrupt! Even big private businesses are in bed with the corruption, private religious schools too! Why have they not pursued the $14 million taxes owed for the cigarette taxes? Are they getting a sweetheart deal like Dennis Rodriguez family got? While rev & tax goes after the average citizens for a measly $2-5000.00 dollars! Election after election they promise to fix our infrastructure, schools, hospital, roads, power, water, etc. yet nothing! Until “We the People” start demanding accountability from these “Elected public servants” nothing will change! We will suffer the same fate with the next typhoon! Remember, we are a Constitutional Republic, not a democracy, they are not kings and queens!
