No blood found on Sked’s shirt

Guam Police Department detective Eric Mondia testified on Friday in the murder trial of Joyner Sked.  Mondia described a puncture wound toward the center spine area of former mayor, Daniel Sanchez.  In opening remarks, prosecutor Leonardo Rapadas said, “We are here today because that woman, Joyner Scott Sked, repeatedly stabbed, and killed Daniel Quinata Sanchez.”

Defense attorney Terrence Timblin pointed out that there was no blood found on the clothes Sked allegedly was wearing during the attack.  The police confiscated those clothes from Sked when they found her at Frederick Dungca’s residence three days after the murder.  Mr. Dungca took the stand and explained that “On my way home, I noticed someone waving me down on the road. I kept going until I noticed her in my rearview mirror. I reversed and saw it was Joy,” Dungca said. “She asked me to give her a ride. I said, ‘Where have you been and why do you look like that?’ She was all dirty and looked like she needed a bath. I brought her to my house and gave her clothes. She seemed okay until after she showered. I told her I had to pick up my mom from church. She was looking out the window asking if Rudy’s out there and I said, ‘No, why would he be out there?’”

Dungca described Sked to be visibly perturbed, stating she could not put whole sentences together and adding that, “she said something happened. I don’t know who stabbed who, but she was saying somebody stabbed somebody.”

Joyner Sked is being tried for the murder of Daniel Sanchez separately from her boyfriend, Rudy Quinata.  The trial is scheduled to continue on Monday, February 7, 2022.
