(GHS-OCD)–The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office continues to monitor a very broad and weak circulation, Invest 95W, south of Pohnpei near 5 degrees north latitude and 157 degrees east longitude.
At this time, there remains high uncertainty on how the system will impact the Marianas, if any. NWS expects this system to drift westward, possibly becoming stationary south of Guam over the weekend. It will continue a wet pattern across Chuuk State, and may lead to some scattered showers across Guam by this Friday and into the weekend.
As advised by NWS, looking over the next five days, the potential of a significant tropical cyclone developing in Micronesia remains low. However, long-range model guidance (7 days and beyond) shows increasing potential for a more organized system to develop somewhere in the central Micronesia region, but this is too far out to provide any certainties for the Marianas at this time.
