Suspects arrested in dog beating case


The following is news from the Guam Police Department:

On January 25th, 2023, Social Media Groups and Whatsapp Chat groups converged and rapidly shared a disturbing post depicting a helpless animal being beaten with a blunt object while the person behind the camera cheered on.

Not only has the video been shared amongst family and friends it was shared through Neighborhood Watch Chats and Community Chat Groups pleading for assistance in finding the responsible (s).

Patrol Officers from Southern Precinct recognized the location from a previous case, a follow up was conducted where the officer observed a male individual who fit the description of the person seen on the video.

Daren James Quinata, 19 years of age, of Santa Rita; and

A male minor, 13 Years of age

Daren Quinata was arrested for Animal Cruelty and Conspiracy, he was confined to the Department of Corrections. The Minor was Taken into Custody and confined to the Department of Youth affairs. The case was forwarded to the Attorney General’s Office and Family Courts for their information and disposition.

The Guam Police would like to give thanks to community and media partners in providing information which assisted and lead to the apprehension and arrest.
