Most of the 37th Guam Legislature spent the past three months professing their undying commitment to working for the people of Guam. Most of them were reelected. Now that the election is over, all of them appear to be taking a break from legislative session this month (no notices for session next week, and the week after is Thanksgiving week. Hell will freeze over before senators work on Thanksgiving week.).
There are several pending bills before this Democratic-controlled legislature that has less than two months before all of that legislation dies. Some of these measures address poverty, affordable housing, the cost of utilities, the amount of taxes we pay, and other critical matters. Many of these bills were stuck in some legislative committees that, thankfully, will not be run by these same Democrats who abused their power and held back important bills.
You know what this lame duck majority is saying to us, when after they win the election they decide NOT to have a session for November? Guess. Two words.
Some things never change.
