WATCH: Tenorio addresses Kandit viewers about recovery, announces disaster food stamps approval

Residents who apply and qualify will be getting food stamps to help them get through their economic injury from Typhoon Mawar.

Lt. Gov. Joshua Tenorio, in an exclusive interview with Kandit Thursday evening, revealed the federal government has approved Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero’s request to provide disaster food stamps to residents not on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

Mr. Tenorio said the Guam Department of Public Health and Social Services, which will administer the Disaster SNAP program, will announce details next week of who qualifies, and how and where people can apply.

Watch the full interview, which includes the lieutenant governor’s announcement of the program, here. Mr. Tenorio also went into great detail about:

• How he is helping people to get back into safe homes

• The communications improvements needed to get the right information about aid into the community

• The options to help the inhumane situation at the Tamuning refugee shelter

• GovGuam’s ongoing efforts to get the military to pay for the hardening of the power system and other infrastructure

• And a personal appeal he makes directly to Kandit’s viewers
