The trial of Joyner Sked in the murder of former mayor, Daniel Sanchez continued on this week. Witness testimony from friends and relatives showed many emotions. Up until now, all that is known about the gory death of Daniel Sanchez, is the incident itself, where Sanchez was bludgeoned with a hammer and stabbed with scissors.
Joseph Reyes Enaligo, remembered seeing Daniel Sanchez on the night of April 1, 2021. Mr. Enaligo is related to Sanchez’s wife, and teared up, telling the court, “I knew him quite well.” Sanchez stopped at Fort Soledad that night around 11pm and gave Enaligo some beer.
Some time later, Sanchez’s niece, Macrina Sanchez, asked for a ride home. Joey Quinata Aguon, who was at Fort Soledad with Joseph Enaligo and Macrina Sanchez, said of the former mayor, “He’s a very good mayor…very friendly, very respected in the village.” Aguon and Enaligo watched as Sanchez drove away with his niece, Macrina.
As Daniel and Macrina Sanchez were on their way home, he talked about his children and his grandchildren. As Macrina Sanchez described the events of the night, she became visibly upset. Macrina Sanchez went on to say that all of a sudden, Joyner Sked appeared alongside the road and signaled for the car to stop. Macrina Sanchez remembered Sked saying, “Hi, my Pari,” and jumping on Daniel Sanchez as he was getting out of the car. Rudy Quinata, Sked’s boyfriend, told Macrina, “Kaduka si chick,” referring to Sked, who he had argued with earlier that night, according to Macrina Sanchez. Macrina Sanchez said of the incident, “In my mind, I wanted to go over there and push her nai but I’m not trying to be disrespectful because Uncle Rudy and Uncle Danny are both my uncles. I got magotdai, I wanted to push her.” Macrina Sanchez recalled feeling like something wasn’t right and did not want to leave because she overheard Rudy Quinata and Daniel Sanchez having heated words in ‘deep chamoru.’ That was the last time she saw Rudy Quinata, Joyner Sked, or Daniel Sanchez.
Sked is being charged for the murder of Daniel Sanchez who was found dead at her boyfriend, Rudy Quinata’s home, three days later on April 3, 2021.
