Man wanted by Guam police arrested in Texas for child sex abuse

A man wanted on Guam in connection to a child sex abuse case was arrested in Killeen, Texas last week on allegations he sexually abused a child there.

Killeen Police Department detectives arrested Jesse Felix Pocaigue Cruz, 31, on September 29, 2022, on allegations he inappropriately touched a 13-year-old girl. The alleged crime happened during the last Christmas school break. According to information provided by the Killeen Daily Herald, the girl is related to Mr. Cruz.

According to the story by Thaddeus Imerman: “The girl told the interviewer that the last time she was touched was Jan. 15. She reaffirmed her outcry of the touching on multiple occasions when she was taken to the hospital for an examination, police said.”

A source close to the family of the child on Guam that accused Mr. Cruz of child sex abuse told Kandit that Cruz fled Guam in 2021 to avoid arrest. The source said the family of the child went to Guam Police Department and filed a criminal complaint against Mr. Cruz. The source also provided the case number police issued to the complainants, and Kandit emailed that number to GPD spokeswoman Berlyn Savella requesting confirmation that the alleged assailant in that case is Mr. Cruz.

“I’m confirming the suspect is the same as provided in the email,” Ms. Savella replied. “The report is locked to the investigator, which I can’t review.”

Ms. Savella also confirmed police have been looking for Mr. Cruz, and now know where he is thanks to the report in the Daily Herald.

Meanwhile, Mr. Cruz has been charged by the courts of Bell County Texas with ‘Indecency with a child – sexual contact.’ His bond was set at $100,000.
