Remember crime? I’m not talking about the boost program. I just mean crime as a general concept that comes up in the news.
Because other than a sputtering of mostly exaggerated stories about retail theft during covid, we don’t hear much about crime these days. That’s good. And it’s because crime rates, especially violent crime, in the United States have been falling quite reliably since the 1990s. Every politician will have you believe the opposite but yes, crime is generally falling, not rising.
Don’t worry. Donald and Elon are going to change all that!
There is no better recipe for crime than what they propose: reduce social services, raise prices on daily essentials, fire a lot of people, defund schools, fire experienced prosecutors and FBI agents, restrict abortion, unrestrict guns. It’s like they stole a criminologist’s standard regression model of what causes crime, and decided to make it policy.
Even their rapid push to boost our planet’s temperature ASAP has consequences for crime. One determinant of crime is warm nights. In America’s colder cities, such as Detroit, cold nights put a big damper on street crime. Well now that we, just like Buster Poindexter, want our planet to be hot hot hot, there will be consequences in crime rates.
Donald doesn’t care. He and his family have taxpayer paid security details for life. It will be us, in the Marianas and in the rest of the United States, who bear the brunt of the coming rise in street crime.
All because we failed to stop the unrepentant criminal who now will invite his comrades to feast upon our corpses.
